Collection Note- Drawing inspiration from the Maibis of Manipur or ‘The Priestess’, the Spring/Summer 2014 collection adheres to an ascetic aesthetic. The silhouettes are derived from the independent movement of the Maibi dance and costume, thus resulting in slightly oversized, layered and boxy pieces. Crisp and uncluttered, the color palette varies from whites to chalky neutral shades. The vibe is understated, but it’s about attention to detail. From mill made cottons to hand-loom cottons, the collection also pays tribute to the craftwork of Northeast India. The concept here doesn’t come at the cost of wearable. The end result: beautifully tailored, one-of-a-kind pieces which don’t compete with the wearer, but allow one to embrace the beauty of less and identify the essential, escaping the excesses of the world around us.
